New Year, New Bike: A Mom’s Review of the Droyd Weeler Electric Mini Bike for Kids
Posted on
A new year brings a certain level of excitement for the possibilities ahead. The plans we make and unexpected surprises of life give a certain feeling that can only be described as exhilarating. It’s the same way we feel when we’re on a bike. The freeing sensations that take us away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and send us back to a time when things were simpler. This is why we love a good old fashioned bike ride; it’s simple. You just get on and go; allowing the wind to touch your skin as you get further and further away from what the day brought you. What better way to destress?
Many of us at Droyd are parents and just like with our work, we want to be the best parents possible so we can give our kids the calmness and connection that they deserve. My name is Aubrey and I’m a mom of an 8, 9, and 10 year old. Trying to get that calmness and connection we deserve is why we insisted we start the new year off with family bike rides. So far, they’ve been a hit. My kids all have the Weeler and it has been such a positive experience for the five of us. I get home from work and before anyone can object, we try as hard as we can to hop on our bikes and talk about our day, which has helped me to feel connected with them. We don't have to worry that they are going to get too far ahead or behind us because we control the speed of their bikes and if it starts to get dark, there’s a safety light attached to the front so we can navigate back to the nest without worry.
For me and probably many other parents, putting a new bike together takes time that we don't have much of – and we were a little intimidated about assembling an electric bike. We can't say enough good things about the ease of putting the Weeler together. It says “minimal assembly” which means it comes mostly assembled but my ten year old son put the rest of it together himself with his father’s supervision. Turns out, he didn’t need my or his dad’s help one bit. Everything came in the box, just as it should have and once we saw how basic the assembly was, we felt confident in allowing our little guy the opportunity to make himself (and us) proud by putting it together.
We opted for the powder blue option and, let me tell you, the pictures online don’t do it justice. You’ve gotta see how cool and vintage this bike looks cruising through the neighborhood. We can't wait to see how much more we connect through the year with these family bike rides and I’m so grateful the Weeler is a fun, safe, and screenless option for my kiddos to get outside and have some good old fashioned fun and fresh air.
